Hi everyone,
Sorry for my very quiet status over the past two weeks. I've started back to work part-time and so my husband, daughter and I have been on a learning curve of what that looks like. Have no fear, our commitment to this campaign and outcome has not waivered....only the amount of time that we have each day and week!
The good news is that the paper petition is ready and we've already got a number of signatures added. In order to get as many signatures as we can, I have uploaded the formal petition to airweshare.ca/raise-your-voice so that you can simply print it off and collect original signatures yourselves (sign it yourself of course, and if you can get more than that we would be in great shape!!!). It would be amazing if each person could get even 5-10 signatures (there's room for 10 on each page of the petition). If 10,000 people did that, we would have over 50,000 signatures.....that's right, it adds up quick and there's a good change that each person that signed this knows at least 5 others that are sympathetic to the cause!!
So - please print off the petition, sign it, then get a few friends/neighbours/co-workers/others to sign it. Keep a couple spares with you and if someone's willing, give them a copy of the petition and get them to collect their own few signatures within their circle. A few rules about the signatures - each person must fill in all three columns (print name, address and signature) and they must be a resident of BC to be eligible. Then, return the signed petitions to me by mail at the address on the petition itself (top right-hand corner). I know we are dealing with a postal strike....so either send it if your area isn't affected, otherwise hold onto them until the strike has resolved (but don't lose them!). Or, email me at theairweshare@mail.com and we can figure out another way to get the signed petitions to me (perhaps the old school route of finding a meet up time/place)! Please get them back to me by November 30, 2018.
That's it for now. Please also check back to the airweshare.ca website as we continue to add more things. There are the Air We Share awareness posters that would be great to have posted around your local communities and of course, contact your MLAs and the housing minister if you haven't yet done so. I will be sending out details of what the housing minister responded to me on my mailing list, so if you want to hear about that then please join the mailing list at airweshare.ca!
Until next time,
Naomi
