Honoring children who have lost a parent or guardian to gun violence or domestic violence.

Honoring children who have lost a parent or guardian to gun violence or domestic violence.
The Issue
Every year in America, thousands of children lose a parent or guardian to gun violence, domestic violence, or community trauma. These children are often the forgotten victims — grieving in silence, growing up without stability, and carrying deep emotional wounds without acknowledgment or support.
Public Intrust Incorporated (P.I.I.), based in Minneapolis, MN, calls on Congress and state leaders to officially recognize the National Day of Healing & Awareness for Children of Violence, to be observed annually on the third Saturday in June, beginning June 14, 2025.
This day will honor and amplify the stories of children whose lives have been impacted by violence — and promote action to support their healing and development.
We Call on Lawmakers to:
1. Formally recognize the awareness day
2. Encourage local and national events like healing circles, memorials, youth rallies, and school supply drives
3. Invest in our communities through trauma-informed care, mental health resources, and long-term support for children of violence
💬 Why This Matters:
The grief of children affected by violence is invisible but real. Their pain often leads to poverty, incarceration, addiction, and suicide — unless we intervene, acknowledge their loss, and create systems for long-term healing.
Let’s stop ignoring the children left behind. Let’s lift them up, give them voice, and build a future that protects them.
Your support helps push this movement into policy. Stand with Public Intrust Incorporated and with the children whose stories need to be heard — and healed.
