The Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) visited some of the villages – Riha, Ramrei Khunou and Chadong, affected by the Mapithel Dam on the 5th of July 2015. Upon interacting with the villagers and observation of the surrounding areas, the immediate concern was that of the unprecedented rising water level which will be submerging vast quantity of land – residential, agricultural and forest areas. To voice the concerns of the affected villages to the authorities concerned, the Tangkhul Shanao Long and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong is organizing a peaceful sit in protest in front of the Mini Secretariat from 9am onwards on the 10th of July 2015. It is our humble request to you to join us in voicing the wishes of the affected people, taking a stand and showing solidarity to the cause.
