Just up the way from 1817 Fifth Avenue - Andy Warhol was born and lived!

REMARKABLE.

Simply astounding.

Not bad for a kid from The Hill…

Andy Warhol’s 1964 portrait of Marilyn Monroe sold for $195 million at Christie’s Monday night, becoming the most expensive work of American art ever sold.

It’s the second-most expensive work of art ever sold at auction, behind Leonardo da Vinci’s “Salvator Mundi” that sold at Christie’s in 2017 for $450 million and ahead of Picasso’s “Les Femmes d’Alger,” which sold for $179 million in 2015.

The Warhola family originally lived at 73 Orr Street, in a wooden house in which they occupied just two rooms (it was there that Andy was born), then at 55 Beelen Street and 6 Moutrie Street. All were within a few blocks of each other in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.
