We, the undersigned citizens of Clear Creek County, the 5th Judicial District and surrounding communities, strongly protest the misdemeanor plea deal being offered to Nicholas Hanning in regards to the assault of victim Michael Clark. This Officer is seen on video tasing the unarmed victim and appears to further tamper with evidence and the crime scene he created. This Officer's actions have left the victim in serious medical jeopardy. Not only should this misdemeanor plea agreement not be accepted, an outside review of all possible charges should be had as DA Heidi McCollum appears to be unwilling to do so. We do not accept that a citizen in our community can be assaulted by a person of trust and not be held accountable to the degree that prevents and shows others in this position of trust that this is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
