Pete Wilt devoted over 22 years to the Downers Grove Park District, serving as a personal trainer, health coach, and referee. During that time, he touched the lives of countless others on their path to greater fitness and happiness. Pete brought positive energy to everything he did, and this was especially true in his roles as a mentor, trainer, and youth referee. To many, Pete was not just their trainer; he became a close and beloved friend. Pete passed unexpectedly on April 30, 2025, leaving a void both at the Cathy Malhoney Recreation Center and the Downers Grove Park District, where many colleagues and clients were devastated to learn of Pete's passing. Pete also created a void at the Morton Arboretum, where he worked part-time for the past several years. Pete's spirit and generosity continue even after his passing, as his last request was to donate his estate to charity. This kindness allows his positive energy to live on in others for years to come. Over 22 years, Pete spent thousands of hours in the training room of the Cathy Mahoney Recreation Center helping others. We ask the Downers Grove Park District Board of Commissioners to name the workout room after its long-time personal trainer and health coach, Pete Wilt, to honor his long-term commitment to health, fitness, and the happiness of others.
