Together, we’ve accomplished something incredible: the WV Department of Health Facilities has officially acknowledged our request to transfer ownership of the cemeteries at the former Weston State Hospital to WVSHI Inc. Even more importantly, their internal real estate division will soon be reviewing the feasibility and process to make this happen.
This isn’t just a step forward—it’s proof that our voices are being heard. These cemeteries hold the stories of lives that history has overlooked, and together, we’re demanding they be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
But let’s be clear—this is only the beginning. Progress like this happens because we refuse to stay silent. It’s your signatures, your shares, and your commitment to this cause that have made this milestone possible.
Now is the time to dig deep and keep up the effort. Every additional signature and share adds strength to this movement and sends a clear message: these cemeteries matter, the people buried here matter, and their stories matter.
We have momentum, but we need to keep it going. Together, we can right this historical wrong, restore these sacred grounds, and honor the humanity of those who rest there.
Thank you for standing with us, for standing with this mission, and for standing for dignity. Let’s finish what we started.
