The Issue

Marcus Oubre vanished from our lives on August 23, 2023, and since then, our daughter and I have existed between hope and despair. Each passing day is a reminder of the painful reality of not knowing where he is or what truly happened. We wake up every morning clinging to fading memories and the faint possibility of answers. Our lives, once filled with his laughter, his presence, and his unwavering support, now exist in a space defined by uncertainty and longing.

Marcus wasn’t just a father—he was a man of faith, a God-fearing and selfless soul who walked through life with kindness and the spirit of the Lord guiding him. His was not a life defined by grand gestures or public recognition, but by the quiet strength and constant love he gave to everyone around him. Whether it was traveling eight hours without complaint just to be present for every single one of our daughter’s birthdays, or offering his time and hands to a neighbor in need, Marcus’s life was a living testimony to what it means to embody true care, dedication, and humility.

To those who knew him, Marcus was more than family, more than a friend—he was an example. He carried himself with dignity, showed compassion without hesitation, and lived with a heart open to others. He was the kind of man who could make you feel seen, heard, and cared for, even in the smallest interactions. To our daughter, he was not only her father, but also her protector, her teacher, and one of her biggest supporters. His influence continues to shape her even now, despite the void left by his absence.

But beyond the aching emptiness his disappearance has caused lies a deep responsibility—to preserve and honor his legacy. Marcus’s life and the values he carried deserve to be remembered, not as fading whispers of the past but as an enduring story that continues to inspire. This is why we are proposing to name one of the streets in Baton Rouge after him. We want the street to be named Marcus Oubre Way. Marcus was not perfect, but he worked extremely hard and tried to do everything the right way.  By doing this, we create a permanent tribute to a man whose impact, though quiet, was both profound and far-reaching.

This act of remembrance is not simply about placing a name on a street sign—it is about ensuring that Marcus’s story lives on. It is about sending a message that people love him, whose lives were rooted in love, faith, and service, are never forgotten. It is about creating a space where our daughter, family, friends, and community members can walk and see his name, finding comfort in knowing that his legacy is not lost to time.

It is also a call to justice. Marcus’s story is unfinished, and his disappearance still demands answers. A street bearing his name in Baton Rouge would not only honor the man he was, but also stand as a reminder of the ongoing fight for truth and closure. It will remind every passerby of the importance of faith, family, and community—and of the need to stand together in the face of loss and uncertainty.

We need your help to bring this tribute to life. By signing and supporting this petition, you are helping us create a legacy that ensures Marcus’s story continues to shine, not just for us who knew him, but for generations to come. His name on a street in Baton Rouge will be a daily reminder that kindness matters, that dedication matters, that love matters—and that no one who lives such a life should ever be forgotten.

🌟 Please sign, share, pray, and stand with us. Let Marcus’s name become more than a memory—it deserves to stand as a beacon of hope, faith, and strength in the heart of our community. With your support, we can honor a man who gave so much of himself to others and ensure that his light never fades.🕊️🌅⭐
