Close the Honolulu Zoo
The Issue
The Honolulu Zoo should not be allowed to exist anymore. You take wild animals, from around the world, out of their natural habitat and bring them to a small, heavily populated island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, for profit? So humans can see a Tiger? In a cage that even chickens would think is too small? In the wild, Tigers are strong, stealthy, independent, but social creatures at the top of the food chain. In the cage at the Honolulu Zoo, the Tiger is on display, with nowhere to hide and nowhere to act normal, nowhere to use the natural instincts and talents that were granted to it! I’ve read that on average in zoos around the world that Tigers have about 18,000 times less space than they would in their natural habitat!
Or a pack of Wild Dogs from Africa? African Wild Dogs have territories hundreds of square miles in size. They play and have big families and hunt together in packs, forming close bonds. At the Honolulu Zoo, none of this is happening. They are on display in a tiny enclosure, so crowds can say, “ooh and ahhh!?!?”
That is just 2 of the animals suffering in cages at the Honolulu Zoo today. Now, I want people to see that it is wrong to keep animals in cages! Help me at least get the word out that zoos are a living hell for the poor souls that are forced to live in them!
Do not support zoos. Do not support keeping animals in cages. Put yourself in their place, see how you like being locked up and away from your natural habitat, unable to use any of your God given instincts and talents, and then tell me how you feel after a day, a month, 5 years, longer.
I have heard others say that they are being taken care of well, fed and watered, and loved and cared for. Whatever that means to a Tiger, or Wild Dogs, or Baboons, or a Rhinoceros! Put yourself in their place!
I don’t know if this will help or not, I don’t know if this is the way to get the word out, but I ask that you please consider the animals souls, like you would a humans, and help me protest against the Honolulu Zoo.
