Refugees Deserve an Education in Hong Kong
This petition had 165 supporters
A refugee is a person who is forced to flee their country because of war or persecution for their race, religion, nationality, membership to particular social group or political reasons. When they arrive to their new country, they normally don’t have a lot with them. Here in Hong Kong, there are around 4500 refugees.
The Hong Kong Government covers 60% of a regular refugee’s needs which include $1500 rental allowance, $13 per meal and $200 of transport. However, they don’t provide education for them..
Financial restrictions do not let refugee parents work in Hong Kong, which make them struggle to find an education for their children, even if they are born in Hong Kong. Most of the children also don’t hold a passport from the place they originally came from.
So please sign this petition to allow refugees in Hong Kong to have access to the education they deserve.
