Between 2013-2016, large numbers of people's lives were destroyed by the misconducts of Members Alliance ('MA'). Some were their direct employees whose super was never paid and suppliers who provided goods & services without also being paid. Others were property investors that MA cold-called and sold houses to with pressure tactics. These houses were significantly over-priced and were in remote areas that allegedly had promising property market growth according to MA's research/analysis. However MA/Image did not even finish building those proprties. MA also owes the Gold Coast Council $741,000 in unpaid rent and owes the ATO $3.6 million in income tax. MA and its builder, Image Building Group QLD, have now declared external administration and gone into liquidation, after providing many lies, dishonesty and next-to-no communication to the clients who have been left suffering from substantial financial damages and tremendous emotional stress. 30 or more clients have been left with half-built homes as a result. According to the administrators' report, the director of Image Building, Richard Marlborough, is claiming that there is only $10 in the company bank while failing to provide books and records for 2014-2016. Due to inadequate regulations and lack of investigations, it is likely the Directors and CEOs will walk away with minimum liability despite that they have ruined the lives of so many innocent people all over Australia. We ask the Minister to conduct a thorough investigation in order to ensure that the directors of Members Alliance and its related companies, who are absolutely responsible of their misconducts, to be held accountable for their wrongdoings.
