Once again, over a decade after the first wave of compensation for victims of Asbestos poisoning such as asbestosis and pleural mesothelioma, James  Hardie Is shirking its court order, moral and ethical obligations to pay compensation to new victims in Australia.

Thousands of premises around Australia are still "infected" with asbestos, and renovators are being affected. ONGOING compensation funds are needed for changes to living, for carers, medical, for spouses left with no breadwinner, for children losing parents.

James Hardy Industries plc still trade building materials (now non asbestos). They need to be given a clear message that if they don't look after their mess, they are not welcome to trade a single dollar in Australia.

Monetarily,  they have COST Australia millions in healthcare, in cleanup of asbestos, and they have shirked paying taxes on many occasions.

Lets's put pressure on them, show our collective disgust, and demand them to meet their responsibilities. It's so important that the victims are well represented and cases are fought very hard on their behalf to get access to compensation. Support for them and "clout" from government should be taking place.

The ABC ran a two part series and you can see the trailer here , depicting the everyday life of victims from day of diagnosis.

A channel 9 investigation can be found here, depicting how they went about trying to "disappear" from Australia, with no responsibility.

The photo is of Bernie Banton, who in 2005 was made a Member of the Order Of Australia for service to the community, particularly as an advocate for people affected by asbestos-related illnesses. On 5 December 2007 he was given a state funeral after succumbing to asbestos related illnesses.
