To all our supporters, this is a great day. The results of our campaign are as follows: 1. Sanskrit Tutors(evening and part time) are now given the oriental languages stipend by MOE, just like other subjects such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, etc. 2. Hon Pradeep Roopun has allowed the creation of the Sanskrit Speaking Union, which is already active. 3. We have met with Hon Minister Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun twice, as well as her advisor Mr Arvin Authelsingh, with whom we have had positive discussions. A pilot project is in the making to introduce Sanskrit as a taught subject in Primary Schools. This can then be followed by a full-blown introduction of Sanskrit Language in all Primary schools. 4. Due to the above measures, we are now in the position to create Sanskrit language Baitkas, with the four main aims: (a) basic Sanskrit grammar. (b) 20 hours of Spoken Sanskrit. (c) Sanskrit Mantra Chanting. (d) Sanskrit Mantra translations and meanings for the 100 most commonly used Sanskrit Mantras. We thank Honourable Minister Mentor Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Hon Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Hon. Minister of Education Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, Hon. Minister Pradeep Roopun, Hon Minister Soodesh Callichurn, Advisor on Curriculum Mr Arvin Authelsingh and all those in the present govt that have supported this initiative.
