I saw Mrs Vo on Sunday and wanted to tell you that your support has already made a great difference to her sense of wellbeing. https://www.facebook.com/savemillerspoint/photos/a.392983624205102.1073741830.264217973748335/392985550871576/?type=1&theater She is so very grateful but there is a lively spark in her that I have not seen since the notice of eviction which left Mrs Vo and many others feeling rejected by society after a lifetime of contribution. Your signatures and comments have helped repair some of this.Thank you so much for signing the petition and for comments. Thank you to those who shared via email and facebook and encouraged others to do the same. As a result we already have over 2600 signatures! Here is a selection of comments: 'I do not know how a Government can do this to such a vulnerable person. ' 'To establish a sense of community at an elderly age in a new suburb would be extremely difficult for this woman and others like her. If I were forced to leave the security and familiarity of my home it would crush me emotionally and I'm half the age of this elder.' 'I'm signing this as an economist, who knows that the short term and short sighted decisions that may bring some politicians advantages and some developers thick profits, hurt the community and cost us all dearly, not least financially.' To make the Premier really stop and take notice though we need many more. What if each of us could all get at least one other person to sign this week? We would reach our next goal of 5000 signatures very quickly and keep the ball rolling as we draw closer to the State Election here in March. Some people have arranged to send the petition out through their organisations. Apparently the best way is to email your contacts directly but it is also easy to share via facebook or you could print out the petition and put on noticeboards or mention it to people when you see them. I love hearing what you are doing so please feel free to let me know. One or many more, whatever you can do it is appreciated. Thank you all again Kelli PS You can find a longer version of Mrs Vo's story here: http://millerspointcommunity.com.au/petition-let-elderly-neighbour-stay/
