What Now?

Thank you for signing this petition and showing your support for the Play Coordinators at Princess Margaret Hospital.
We are madly scrambling to organise our public event to highlight the cause. The clock is ticking and in 2 weeks the children of WA face losing the decades of professional experience these staff bring to their integral role in supporting the psychological wellbeing of Western Australian children in the hospital system.
Our question is, what then?
Who will be responsible for devising appropriate activities for children in isolation or who are bed bound for any length of time?
Who will hold a child's hand whilst their wounds are cleaned or they are receiving invasive treatment?
Who will assist holding the terrified youngster to allow a needle for life saving medication? Or teach the older child techniques to self calm through mindfulness when facing painful and invasive procedures?
Who will give positive affirmation to the children who are brave, who hold back the tears and march on through treatment, who need to be reminded that it's okay to be a kid too?
For these reasons and so many more we implore the department to reconsider its position and to value the staff and the role they play in the wellbeing of our children as we do.
Please join us on Sunday at Mueller Park for a fun picnic and show the department and the Play Coordinators that we care.
Thank you!
