The term acupuncture can be given verbally or in written form to a person who is looking for an acupuncturist by a dry needler according to Federal Australian Laws. Advertising laws only require to-omit the word Acupuncturist in any advertising/communication by a dry needler not the word Acupuncture.

By allowing this advertising loophole the Federal Government is allowing professional cannibalism to dictate advertising to the Australian public.

A course that runs for 4 to 8hr of study can claim to the Australian public that person is doing Acupuncture.

Advertising claims can include Acupuncture, verbally or over the phone, in hard media or in any online or social media. In short any advertising relating to their business can include the word "Acupuncture". This is allowed under current Federal Australian Advertising Laws.

Drawbacks to the current federal strategy:

• Australian public are at risk when enquiring for a medical treatment related to acupuncture needle insertion
• Negligence to advertorial laws by the Federal Australian Government have held back AHPRA to instigate some control over misinformation and advertorial negligence to the Australian public
• Non Acupuncturists who insert acupuncture needle are the leading cause of pneumothorax, bowel perforation, haemotoma and other medical admissions

Why dry needlers are a danger to Australians health:

• Australian public need not be informed the person inserting an acupuncture needle is not an Acupuncturist
• Incorrect needle insertion of acupuncture needles by non Acupuncturists is the leading cause of hospital admissions
• Completely unregulated
• Performed by people with no previous acupuncture needle insertion training
• No patient data needed to be kept
• No regulatory body or association
• Educators have little experience at inserting acupuncture needles
• No Government regulations about acupuncture needle insertion
• Limited or no insurance cover for medical negligence (buyer beware)
