PETITION FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF FAMILY REUNION PROGRAM AT FIVE POINTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH DIRECTIVE 4500.

We the families of the inmates at Five Points Correctional Facility, Petition the Hon. Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Hon. Anthony Annucci, Acting Commisioner of the Dept of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYS), to immediately take the necessary steps in implementing at Five Points, the Family Reunion Program. 

Five Points, a maximum security Facility, rudimentary lags in qualitative and fundamental programs designed to strengthen, build and enhance family ties and bond. Flatly, outside of two subpar family events a year, and a grueling visiting -room originally designed for punishment of disruptive inmates, the inmate family's are unable to adequately build, strengthen, sustain and maintain a structural family bond. 

The family reunion program is designed to, and has proven to serve, as a vehicle to enhance, strengthen, build and maintain family ties and bond. The program has proven overwhelmingly successful in twenty two (22) facilities across the state, which includes six (6) medium facilities. 

The family reunion program has dual benefits for both the families of the incarcerated, and the Dept. Of Corrections as a whole. The family reunion program is also encouraged and supported by the Commisioner on Corrections and the Correction Officers Union.

The Program significantly increases inmate program participation and good behavior while substationally decreasing inmate violence and other discouraging behaviors by the Department of Corrections among the prison population. 

In the spirit of rehabilitation and reeentry, which is the paramount goal and purpose of the incarcerated, We The Family of the incarcerated inmates at Five Points humbly and respectfully request,  that your honor immediately take the necessary strides to implement the Family Reunion Program at Five Points.
