Improve efficiencies and transparency for farmers
This petition had 3,944 supporters
Rail service has been deteriorating across western Canada and with no action, has become critical. Prior to the House of Commons dissolving for Christmas, railway service for western Canada was not getting the attention it required.
There is no transparency for farmers within the Marketing Freedom Act.
The undersigned are petitioning the government for the following:
1) Increased transparency from CN and CP through legislation if required.
2) An export sales reporting program similar to the United States which came into effect in 1973, be adopted in Canada as a transparency mechanism for farmers
3) That the vessel waiting list that was discontinued by the Vancouver Port Authority on September 30, 2013, be reinstated to provide transparency for farmers.
4) A vision for future rail service to ensure agricultural growth is sustained.
On January 28, the House of Commons will resume sitting. Farmers have an opportunity to send all levels and all parties a message.
I would hope this gains better traction than most farm elections.
Please email this link to as many farmers as you possibly can.
