Abolish Income Tax In India
The Issue
The Indian economy is faltering and GDP growth in India has been steadily reducing because of reduced consumer demand . The current GDP growth rate of 5% is expected to reduce further if immediate corrective macro economic measures are not taken . India requires a sustained growth rate of 10% for the next 10 years to create enough jobs and eradicate unemployment and poverty . By reducing corporate tax , the government has only enabled industry to increase production but unless purchasing power is restored in the hands of the people , there will be no consumer demand and stagnation will set in again . Agricultural and political income is not taxed in the country . The rich avoid paying income tax through exemptions and hiring Chartered Accountants or in many cases , by bribing tax officials and the poor don’t pay income tax at all . Effectively, therefore , only the middle and upper middle classes are forced to pay income tax in India . By abolishing income tax , there will be more money and disposable income, which will lead to greater purchasing power in the hands of the common man , thereby fueling higher consumer demand , growth , jobs and indirect tax revenue and savings . It would also bring in greater cash flow in the economy . The concept of Income Tax is outdated , counter productive and archaic . Let us bring about a tax revolution in India by abolishing Income Tax completely. Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures . Let us begin now !
