This video about British Columbia having the worst child poverty rate in Canada was updated the last time by CBC on October 10, 2017 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-has-highest-child-poverty-rate-1.2441522

“For the past sixteen years (2000–2015) an astounding half of all children in lone-parent families in BC, most of them female-led, have lived in poverty. Lone parents with a disability and children under 25 have an astronomical poverty rate of 53%. Equally alarming, 2015 statistics reveal that in BC nearly half (45%) of recent immigrant children were poor, one in three (31%) Indigenous children were poor (not counting children living on First Nations reserves), more than one in three (39%) children living with other relatives were poor, and one in four ‘visible minority’ (or racialized) children were poor” (FirtCall BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, 2017, p.4).

“78% [of single mothers in Canada] confirmed that they lived in food insecurity during the study of household food intake during one month. The coping strategy of the mothers was to compromise their own nutritional intake to feed their children as best as they could” (Rothman, 2007, p. 664).  In Canada, I also had to go hungry in order to feed my child as best as I could.

It is wrong that our family has been severely etc. harmed/suffered, ruined our lives etc. by brought to Canada Khaldoun Aldiabat and Khaldoun Aldiabat’s violations of the Human Rights/Women’s Rights.  I am also sure for 98% out of 100% that Khaldoun Aldiabat has caused harm/suffering etc. to other people in Canada.  Marrisa Shen’s family has been severely etc. harmed/suffered from Ibrahim Ali who was brought to Canada with his three brothers. On October 12, 2018, “[a]fter the hearing concluded, Ali spoke out with a tone of urgency in Arabic, but the interpreter did not translate what he said” (Jenny Peng / StarMetro Vancouver, 2018, October 12). British Columbia has had the worst poverty compare to other parts of Canada. It is obvious that during decades the government in British Columbia has been persistently deliberately doing wrong and worst compare to the government in the rest of Canada.

At the same time, the government has increased their own paychecks every year and above the rate of annual inflation as mentioned in one of the sources online regarding poverty in British Columbia. Furthermore, while Canada already has spent substantial amounts of money on the new refugees, in October 2018, in the news, it was announced that the government is further significantly increasing spending by Canada on the new refugees for the next five years. It is wrong.

The government has put unjust financial burden on the taxpayers in Canada to support for decades many thousands or million(s) of the new refugees, and instead of eliminating poverty in British Columbia/Canada, the government has caused genocide to the most vulnerable people for providing well-being to the new refugees.

“B.C. has the highest rate of seniors in poverty compared to the rest of Canada, according to a provincial report card” released on June 12, 2018 (Wadhwani, 2018, June 12).

A single, low-income person or a single senior living on his/her own has the worst situation as well to survive (BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, 2014 & Wadhwani, 2018, June 12). In fact, the number of seniors living in poverty increased more than two times in British Columbia (United Way, 2018, June 12). It went from 33,780 seniors lived in poverty in 2000 to 70, 990 seniors lived in poverty in 2015 (United Way, 2018, June 12).

In 2018, in British Columbia, annual rent increase for the next year reached the highest in 15 years (Little, 2018, September 7). The government has made only the rich to become more richer, and it has been constantly going from bad to worse for many renters, more people have been left without the roof over their head, homeless etc., e.g. “the number of homeless seniors has tripled” (Wadhwani, 2018, June 12). “Homelessness is growing visibly in communities all around the province, including hundreds of young people and families with children” (FirtCall BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, 2017, p.4).  It is wrong.  As the representative of one of the organizations in BC said and I agree with it that the annual rent increase must be frozen in British Columbia.

Many people have lived on the income amount below the poverty line in British Columbia/Canada.

Some of many causes of poverty are discrimination and failure to deal with discrimination (BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, 2014 & FirtCall BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, 2017).

Help me and many other British Columbian/Canadians defend our Human Rights/Women’s Rights by SIGNING the petition and please pass the petition to others to sign.
