On Dec 24th, during Hon. PM Modi's Mumbai visit to inaugurate the Shivaji memorial, A Mumbai Metro video released by Hon. CM Devendra Fadnavis shows the Metro Line 4 (Andheri East - Dahisar East) getting extension till Mira Road and Bhayandar. There is however no mention of the route and the stations it will have. CM had declared this extension and had ordered the DPR creation for the same in Oct 2015. There have been multiple grand announcements in last one year, when BJP is in power in State and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. None of them have seen any real progress on the ground. 1) No update on the feasibility of Coastal Road project extension from Kandivili to Mira Road. (http://bit.ly/2iEEodp) 2) The Bhayandar-Naigaon sea link project is planned, but there is no update on the DPR and environmental clearances. (http://bit.ly/1PJBM8I) 3) A 4 kms coastal road from Jesal Park in Bhayandar East to Ghodbunder entrance at Kashimira to ease Thane-Bhayandar traffic was planned, work expected to start by March 2017 (http://bit.ly/2iSRnG9) With MBMC elections due in August 2017, the real work done on these projects will be the proof of the Govt's real focus on development.
