Immunization of School Children in Ontario

Immunization of School Children in Ontario
The Issue
In an effort to reduce the risk of serious and sometimes deadly, disease, infecting our children and our province as a whole, the following is a petition designed to request the government of Ontario to allow for only valid medical exemptions when excusing children from immunization.
Where As: Vaccines have been proven safe by a preponderance of repeatable, methodologically and data driven scientific research
And
Where As: Vaccines are the number one public health contributive initiative in preventing reducing disease
And
Where As: Not a single causal link between vaccines and autism has been shown to exist
And
Where As: The Toronto Medical Officer of Health estimates that 30% of children under seven years of age do not have their full vaccinations and an estimated 287,000 children in Canada and 2.6 million in the US lack their measles vaccination
And
Where As: there has been a 300% increase in global cases of measles of approximately 110,000 with 111 of these in Canada as of September 2019 (a rise of over 300% from the previous year)
And
Where As: The Democratic Republic of Congo has experienced over 5,000 deaths due to measles in 2019 and Samoa has experienced over 70 deaths in 2019
And
Where As: the Ontario Government continues to maintain eligibility for a non medical exemption
And
Where As: No major religion expressly condemns use of vaccines
And
Where As: Families who choose to not vaccinate their children pose a significant risk of transmitting vaccine preventable diseases to immune compromised individuals and those medically unable to be vaccinated.
And
Where As: These diseases can prove permanently debilitating or even fatal
And
Where As: It is the right of every individual to operate in safety in their society
We the undersigned ask the following of the Government of Ontario (specifically the following members of Cabinet:
Hon. Doug Ford,
Hon Christine Elliot,
Hon Stephen Lecce and
Hon Doug Downey
1. Amend the Immunization of School Pupils Act R.S.O cI.1 to remove the conscience and religious objection exemption
2. Amend the Immunization of School Pupils Act R.S.O cI.1 to allow for review of any medical exemptions
3. Amend the Immunization of School Pupils Act R.S.O cI.1 extend the term of suspension from 20 days to “indefinitely until proof of immunization can be provided
4. Amend the Immunization of School Pupils Act R.S.O cI.1 to increase the maximum fine for noncompliance from $1000 to $10,000 per child and to have this fine assessed annually until parents and guardians are in compliance
5. Extend all of the above to all grades from Early Childhood education through to the completion of secondary school for both all Separate Boards, Public Boards and private schools that fall under the Ontario Curriculum
Thank you
