The Globe and Mail came out in opposition to Bill C-24 this week. In an editorial, they said that every Canadian should be treated equally by the law. Even if a Canadian commits a crime, "when someone is born here, or has been accepted into this country legally and fairly, he or she is Canadian, for good or ill." The Globe also argued that citizenship stripping is wrong: "Stripping a citizen of citizenship is characteristic of a totalitarian regime such as the Soviet Union, which banished dissidents [...].
