STOP THE CRUEL ELEPHANT CIRCUS AT DEHIWALA ZOO SRI LANKA

Forcing wild animals to perform unnatural and often harmful tricks to entertain people is a cruel and outdated practice which has no place in a modern caring society.
Legislation banning animals in the circus is already in place in many countries and many more are set to follow.
In light of this and the dislike tourists had for elephant circus style shows The National Zoological Department of Sri Lanka stopped the cruel elephant circus shows at Dehiwala Zoo in 2020
Fast forward to 2022 and a new Director General of the zoo department is in place (Shermila Rajapaksha) she plans to restart the circus show in early January 2022.
We ask the Minister for Wildlife and the Minister for Tourism to block this backward decision by Ms Rajapaksha and to instead continue on a path of progression toward better welfare for the elephants and other animals at Dehiwala Zoo
RESTARTING THE CRUEL ELEPHANT CIRCUS MUST NOT GO AHEAD!
