Dear Shri Bandlish & Shri Venkatachalam,
Key to regain your credibility lies in getting justice for pre-2002 Retirees and 5-day Banking without further delay.
The secret kept by IBA and UFBU for years that they played the main role in causing injustice to pre-2002 retirees is no longer a secret any more. Similarly, the belief that AIBEA failed to protect the interests of Pensioners after ironically it is the same AIBEA who brought the Pension benefit in PSBs in the early 1990s is also no more a secret.
UFBU’s strength as part of the bipartite mechanism is eroding. Both the IBA and DFS do not seem to take UFBU seriously. The Pensioners as well as the future retirees in Banks have lost much of their confidence in UFBU/AIBEA.
You, as leaders of majority Trade Unions, do not lack intelligence. You are aware of the changes in the direction of the wind. Indian citizens in general have more trust in the GOI than in the Trade Unions. The strength and power of UFBU face more limitations than support from outside. You are facing challenges in regaining your credibility and power. You have already sensed the reality. As a result, you are focussing already on gaining more support from the younger generation employees and women employees in Banks, who carry no baggage of past injustice but carry only hopes for better salaries and working conditions.
The issue of Pension Updation is in Courts. Both IBA and DFS will not agree to any full-scale Updation until the Courts deliver verdicts. Those who are opposed to Pension Updation will also do what all lies in their power to delay Court hearings or to block a judgement favourable to Pensioners. IBA AND DFS WILL HIDE BEHIND THE THEORY OF "SUB JUDUCE" TO TAKE ANY DECISION EVEN THOUGH EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THIS IS A WEAK PLEA, AND THAT PENDING COURT CASES DO NOT STAND IN THE WAY IF DECISIONS BEING TAKEN UN FAVOUR OF THE OENSIONERS.
5-Day Banking and Pension Updation are staring at you as roadblocks for your continued credibility, your performance as Trade Unions, and your respect.
In view of the pending Court cases and the present attitude of IBA, your suggested formula of implementation of Pension Updation in 3 phases seems to be the only strong option remaining in front of you for the present for negotiations.
PLEASE TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO WIN BACK YOUR CREDIBILITY
by focussing on (a) 5-Day Banking and (2) immediate removal of all injustices done to Bank Retirees by giving Pension Updation to the pre-2002 Retirees forthwith with no more delay, irrespective of the pendency of Court cases, and a definite time frame for Pension Updation for others.
ANY MORE DELAY EXTENDING BEYOND THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE BUDGET SESSION OF PARLIAMENT OR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING OF THE CURRENT YEAR 2022-2023 WILL ONLY ERODE YOUR CREDIBILITY FURTHER.
PLEASE ACT IMMEDIATELY WITH PRUDENCE AND PROVE YOUR METTLE.

My criminal petition notices have been served on the accused unions and UFBU also.
This must have been first such notice received by these people.
Tomorrow's meeting must have under current of this notice.
As you say sufficient pressure has been built on UFBU AND MEMBER UNIONS.
They cannot escape now.
They have to take decision now.
In the meantime I have submitted RTI APPLICATIONS to IBA, RBI AND FINANCE MINISTER regarding legality of Gazzetes concerned to retrospective Pension ammendments done by Canara Bank in BEPR 95 since 1999 to 2014.
Hope they will respond correctly.
