RE: AICBRF mail dt.11th May.2021 to one of CANBANK retiree.

We came across your mail dt.11th May.2021 to one of Canara Bank retiree wherein you have stated that IBA's emphatic NO for updation of pension in 2015 to your consideration YES in 2020 in replying to your member's mail who seemed to have been totally disappointed as lakhs of retirees have become due to inordinate delay in granting updation even after the Finance minister's assertions in number of times since October,2020.

present development came only due to some of the retirees own efforts who utilised their personal influence and had taken the issue right upto the Prime Minister beside several members of Parliament had raised the issue on the floor of Parliament and also had taken to the Finance minister in person and a host of print medias published about financial distress of the retirees and the UFBU leaders have no role nor they can claim for this favourable development of the IBA saying YES.
But even then it is noticed that the IBA Officials are still delaying the process of updation since in today's technology advanced era such pension updation works should not take more than a fortnight's time particularly when the Banks are equipped with advanced technologies and number of retirees only about 6 lacs and about 1 lac family pensioners.
Per reply mail you have assured your member about granting updation at an early date with participating unions bargaining power.
We the retiree members from various Banks accross the country failed to understand what you meant to say by participating unions? Did the IBA recognise the retiree unions/Associations and invited for negotiation on updation?
To our information no such development has taken place till now although the UFBU leaders are keen to participate in the discussion and requested the IBA for their participation.
If the IBA indeed invite the UFBU and allow the UFBU participation then the updation will not take place before the XIIth BPS i.e. updation if at all takes place it will take place only after 2022 by which time another several hundred retirees will depart from this world.
Beside being a retiree Association you must have been well aware that the UFBU leaders will meddle the updation as they had done in the past.
We have evidence that the then AIBOA G.S. had threatened the IBA nogotiating team and compelled the IBA to withdraw the proposal of updation of 2 to 3 p.c. out of total package of the Xth BPS during negotiation in 2015.
When the retirees being the sole stake holders and majority of the retirees are highly aggrieved with the corrupt and unscrupulous UFBU leaders and do not want the UFBU participation and favoured updation as per R.B.I. formula no better result can be achieved than updation as per R.B.I. formula.
Even updation as per R.B.I. formula will also be in conformity with the pension regulations.
Under the above stated circumstances we strongly urge the AICBRF to desist from initiating UFBU participation which will only be counter productive for the retirees and further delay this long pending updation.

At last information of a positive development has been received on updation .
I urge the retirees to remain vigilant so that the unscrupulous UFBU leaders or its stooges from AIBRF & CBPRO cannot intervene and meddle the process of updation undertaken by the committee formed by the IBA.
It is also understood the IBA committee agreed to look into the issue of discrimination in payment of 100% D.A . to the pre Nov.2002 retirees and differential policy for the retirees in the matter of IBA Group Medical Ins.scheme .
Let us hope our long pending issues are resolved at the earliest and be vigilant to protect our legitimate rights.
