Criminalization for homosexuality?

Equal rights for all, special privileges for none! Sounds like a lie to me. Although in this case, it's more like a lack of privileges if you will. Or is having sexual intercourse even a privilege or a basic need of every human being?

As under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, engaging in a sexual intercourse with a person of the same gender is illegal.

Yes, you read that right. This occured more than a century ago and it still persists in our country. I can't comprehend why people would not take this as a serious problem today. We want to wait for other serious problems to be dealt with first and then look at such issues? Other problems like eradicating poverty, ensuring the right of educationto to all, etc. It's an endless list to be honest and it takes time to deal with than making a decision to decriminalise a law that has been existing for over a hundred years now.

I was wondering why same sex marriage is still not legal in our country and I stumbled upon this. In today's world, I can see many countries not having same sex marriage legal yet people are still working to achieve that goal. However, here we are still trying to accept that homosexuals too, have the right to engage in sexual intercourse with a partner of their choice.

This law was passed in the 1860s and a lot has changed since then except our attitude towards the LGBTQI community. It's high time we understood this and took action against this ridiculous act.

Where other countries are openly accepting this minority and making/changing laws for them to have the same rights as others, we're still struggling to accept that they even exist. It is shameful, but we don't need to be ashamed of this. We shouldn't be ashamed of how nature has its ways to make everyone unique and yet be the same and be equal. So let's not disrespect that and open our minds to such possibilities, as they clearly do exist, and not deprive them of their basic rights and respect.

Sign this petition if you agree with me, and share it as much as you can. Only because it's been high time since this should've been amended already. Let's be progressive and make this happen so we're a step closer to make the people, every citizen of this country, can be proud of their country completely. After all, the constitution of our democratic country is truly "Of the people, for the people, by the people", right? It doesn't state any exceptions there, and it shouldn't have any too.
