Protect the Haryana Aravalli hills and forests permanently for future generations & make Gurgaon and Faridabad ecologically smart cities
Why this petition matters
Our groundwater recharge zones, air quality, wildlife habitat, and over 20 million trees in the Haryana Aravallis in India are under threat.
Haryana is the state with the second lowest forest cover in India, but it says the Aravallis are ‘not forest’.
Shockingly, there are no National Parks and Sanctuaries in Haryana Aravallis. Not even a Conservation Reserve.
Even Mangar Bani, a magnificent locally protected Sacred Grove, is sold off and threatened. This despite the Supreme Court order to protect the Aravalli hills at any cost.
Successive Haryana governments have privatized the Aravalli commonlands. Builders are getting ready to tear down the trees that let us breathe clean air, recharge our drinking water supply, scare away the wildlife, the critical ecosystem services provided by the Aravallis. If we don’t act now, all this could be lost.
That is why we have started this petition.
Make your voice count. Sign our petition asking the Haryana government to declare the Aravalli Hills as deemed forests and create large scale protected areas.
