Confiscate (& donate to charity) vehicles of people who leave children or pets unattended

The issue

Australians universally abhor the act by grossly irresponsible people of leaving children or pets unattended in their private vehicles given the extreme risk to life due to our harsh environment.

The former Queensland government previously enacted legislation to confiscate and crush vehicles under "hooning" laws.

We the undersigned request those petitioned seek to write, pass and enact new legislation to ensure the safety of children and animals in the care of potentially irresponsible parents or owners through the threat of legal invention, and further to ensure immediate and serious consequence to breaches of said.

We request offenders thereby compulsorily forfeit vehicles to the community in which children or pets are discovered unattended. All confiscated vehicles are then to be auctioned with all proceeds to be donated to identified animal or youth charities.

Collectively we seek to send a clear message to parents/carers and pet owners that our society will not tolerate their behaviour and instead will create positive change with an associated positive consequence through their public shaming and at their personal cost.

Phil BoylePetition starterI am firm believer in questioning, standing up to, and keeping in check those in positions of authority. We the people live in a democracy, not a dictatorship and our politicians are answerable to us. We need not fear them, instead they need to represent our wants and needs as a collective, not dictate their (or lobbyists) small minded, short-sighted, personal beliefs or interests. My belief: Revolution begins with the voice of just one, then is realized through the passion & support of many. My personal ethos: Make a stand. Make a difference. Inspire change. Always remember that our strength comes from our DEEDS: - Devotion - Equanimity - Equality - Diversity - Solidarity
