Terminate the employment of Ms. Nancy Ruscio as Superintendent of the Homer Central School District
Terminate the employment of Ms. Nancy Ruscio as Superintendent of the Homer Central School District
The Issue
In light of the overwhelming support of the Homer Central School District to discontinue the pursuant of leasing Hartnett Elementary, and in essence continuing normal operations of the school, Ms. Nancy Ruscio continues to impose her personal agendas on the community. This is a blatant disregard to the citizens of the Homer district, and is an inexplicable abuse of power. The purpose of a superintendent is to serve the people, not the people to serve her/him. The personal agendas of Ms. Ruscio have run thin on the district, and it is clear Ms. Ruscio does not serve the best interest of the community, teachers, parents, and most of all the students. Parents and community members know what is best for this district, not the superintendent. Instead, it is up to the superintendent to accommodate the wants and needs of its citizens and in all instances respect those needs. By deliberately disregarding the wishes of district members, Ms. Ruscio is disrespecting her citizens, and is suggesting that her ideologies are superior to those of the majority contingency.
Throughout her tenure, Ms. Ruscio has been anything but transparent. Instead, in a setting that discourages and attempts to prevent bullying, Ms. Ruscio perfectly exemplifies the characteristics of a classic bully (“a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker [of less power]”). From the suppossed threatening with petty lawsuits, and termination of employees for a difference of opinion, to the unprovoked hack of employee emails, Ms. Ruscio abuses her power and imposes her agenda in an intimidating, wrongful manner. A Pennsylvania middle school student proposed an idea to save his school thousands of dollars and the government millions of dollars annually by simply changing the font type and size of documents and handouts. However, the best and only option Ms. Ruscio can muster is closing a school, displacing dozens, and disregarding the wishes of the majority of the district? Therefore, one can only ascertain that Ms. Ruscio is no longer looking at saving the district money, or listening to her contingency, and instead has a vendetta against Hartnett Elementary and Truxton community.
Yes, change can be a good thing, and it is time for change. However, this change should be in the form of the district once again listening to its citizens, and not just those who have assumed elitist roles. As board members, it is important to remember that you too are here to serve the people of the district. Put your personal agendas aside, and take a minute to actually listen to your contingency. Therefore as people of the district, we come to request the immediate removal of the root problem, Ms. Nancy Ruscio as the Superintendent of the Homer Central School District.
