The shortage of BIM talent in the UK is getting worse and the existing training provision is not providing enough professionals to meet the increasing demand for digital construction skills.

We are campaigning to ask UK Government to allow European BIM talent to work in the UK on a short term basis until the balance of supply and demand can be made sustainable within the UK.

A similar mechanism has been put in place temporarily to address the shortage of HGV drivers via a Seasonal Worker Visa. This could be replicated with a Skilled Worker Visa for BIM-qualified professionals.

DBE.careers has convened experts within the industry to support the campaign and published an open letter to the Home Office.
