There is an ever increasing threat from terrorism, shootings and knife crimes in the UK. Other police forces around europe utilise firearms to protect members of the public from threats. As resources for police are stretched thin there is a real risk that armed officers will not be able to arrive in time to a serious threat of terrorism. Shootings, stabbings and violent crime is common in highly populated areas such as London, Liverpool etc. With all officers being armed those on scene first can stop incidents faster and protect themselves and others. I feel that the use of firearms at the very least tasers should be given to all police officers as part of their standard kit.
