Dear all,
We want to thank you all for standing in support of this petition. We received close to 8000 signatures. At several points, during this petition, the Indian diaspora organisations made bilateral outreach to the administration within their host country to discuss the matter of genocidal hate speech in India and derogation of human rights and Rule of Law under the current Indian Administration.
Yesterday - after 28 days since the Haridwar Hate Assembly, and several years since Yati began his career of insinuating hate against Indian Muslims - he is arrested. The arrest was on grounds of a previous FIR supported by the National Commission of Women for derogatory remarks towards Indian Women.
We believe this is not the end of the road - rather a beginning of a journey that should unite Indian citizens and people of Indian origin to recognise:
- The current Indian Government has purposely emboldened far-right Hindutva terrorists against Indian Muslims by not just choosing to remain silent but rather also allowing BJP leaders, BJP karkartas and RSS affiliates to spread communal hate and violence.
- The current Indian government has disrespected the Indian Consitution and India's foundational values for which they should be held accountable.
- Indian Government needs to take cognizance of hate speech against Indian Muslims sphered by Yati Narsinganand and his associates.
- Indian Government needs to arrest the entourage and associates of Yati (which was also a demand in our petition which started on 15th December).
- Ensure those far-right Hindutva terrorists calling for the annihilation of Muslims and Islam in India are put on trial as terrorists and not just lone wolves using speech hyperbolas.
With these five-point minimum demands, we would keep this petition open and keep you updated on how matters progress in the coming days on the arrest as well as ongoing writ petitions in India.
We thank you all once again for your support and solidarity in making the noise.
