Why this petition matters

Started by Laity for Unity
Crowning of the bride and the groom during the holy sacrament of matrimony is an ancient tradition of the apostolic churches. This most important and meaningful ceremony of the sacrament was not included when the text of the holy matrimony was revised in the Syro Malabar Church. We wish to see this beautiful tradition restored.
Your Beatitude, the Major Archbishop and the members of the Holy Synod of the Syro Malabar Church, kindly accept this petition from your young children and the like-minded faithful. Please restore this beautiful tradition and make it possible for the couples to be crowned by adding it in the text, at least as an optional part of the rite.
