Dear Hollywood Chamber of Commerce: The world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame currently acknowledges the icons of Film, TV, Radio, Music/Recording and live Theater/Performance. It's been more than a quarter-century since your last category addition (live theater/performance in 1984), and it's now time to update the Walk in fitting with your set historical definitions of "fame" and "star" (as per your website http://www.walkoffame.com). The industry has changed significantly, most notably the rise of the internet and the advent of digital and streaming entertainment. Just as television, film and radio established themselves as unshakable cornerstones of the entertainment industry, the past 15 years has proven digital streaming stars to be just as impactful and even more popular & influential. 

We are the many millions-strong followers of today's A-list online celebrities from YouTube, Vine, Periscope, YouNow and Streamup, and we ask you to recognize these modern stars by adding a "Play" button on your Hollywood Walk of Fame as an acknowledgement of the countless contributions they've consistently made to the entertainment industry, as well as open your commemoration ceremonies and regular visitation to a massively growing and unprecedentedly mobile new audience. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Golden Globes are all already recognizing the contributions of streaming stars to the entertainment industry. It's time the Hollywood Walk of Fame does as well. Please consider our petition to add a "Play" button to acknowledge streaming stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
