The album Dreaming of you have the titles "best selling debut albums of all time," along with being the "best-selling debut by a female Latin artist".
It is notable for being the first singer to formally name the Tecnocumbia.

The posthumous tribute Selena Vive! It is the most-watched Spanish especially in US history. The Spirit of Hope Award, which is awarded to Latino artists who participated in humanitarian and civic causes, was created in honor of Selena in 1996.
