Please accept this petition on behalf of the Friends of Homeless Animals RI (FOHARI) in reference to the above captioned matter. 

Our organization is dedicated to finding loving, suitable homes for abandoned and neglected animals and has been successfully doing so for over 12 years. It is with great horror that we have learned of the events of December 5, 2021, wherein one of the dogs that we placed for adoption was brutally, maliciously and intentionally abused. The infliction of this abuse was the direct and proximate cause of the dog’s premature death. 

While we realize that each and every defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence, we hereby respectfully request that your office prosecute this offender to the full extent and power of your office. We ask that the maximum penalties and fines be imposed and advocated for and your office refrain from offering or recommending any sentence that falls below the maximum allowable penalties. A message needs to be sent to all Rhode Islanders that this abhorrent behavior shall not be tolerated.

We the undersigned, thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We will be watching and monitoring this matter as it progresses through the court process.
