Holly Maria Jones (September 14, 1992 – May 12, 2003) was a 10-year-old child abduction and murder victim from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On May 12, 2003, while walking a friend home, she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and strangled by Michael Briere. After dismembering her body, Briere attempted to discard the remains by placing them in two bags and used weights to try to sink them in the Toronto Harbour. The bags were found the next morning.

Briere pleaded guilty to the crime, receiving an automatic life sentence and will not be eligible to apply for parole until 2028 which will be Holly’s 25th anniversary. 

I lived next door to where Holly was last seen on Perth Avenue. I watched her leave her friends home & her last words to us was “bye, see you tomorrow!” Holly attended the same school as my son & was his lunch room student helper. As I started my teaching career at my first school (St. Luigi) I worked in Holly’s class many times. Her schoolmates, teachers & everyone in the neighbourhood & beyond will never ever forget this horrific tragedy & the monster behind it.  We don’t want this evil man back on our streets terrorizing families & children. He is an evil person whom is guilt of a horrendous crime on an innocent sweet little girl & he doesn’t deserve the light of day let alone his freedom. Michael Briere deserves to spend all of eternity in his jail cell & doesn’t deserve to be eligible for parole.
