The Holliston Federation of Teachers (HFT) is reaching out to the Holliston community to ask for your support. The Holliston School Committee and the HFT negotiated an agreement last March that, according to a letter sent to teachers by the School Committee, was reached “with integrity and good faith on both sides.” The teachers voted to ratify the agreement on May 5, 2020. Two days later, the Committee voted not to ratify the agreement due to the anticipated financial hardship caused by the COVID pandemic. As a consequence of this action, the teachers of Holliston have been working under an expired contract for the entirety of this school year. 

Despite the School Committee’s fiduciary concerns, our town did not experience a decrease in state funding or town revenue. Therefore, we are asking the School Committee to keep the promise they made to the Holliston teachers and put forth a budget that supports the deal made in good faith last spring. The Holliston community has trusted us with its children's education, both at home and in-person, during an unprecedented pandemic. In response, Holliston educators continue to work tirelessly to support students academically and to create physically and emotionally safe learning spaces. We have kept our promise. We are asking the School Committee to keep theirs.
