Stop the appointment of Paul Eckert as Hollister City Manager
The City of Sioux City Iowa paid out $300,000 in settlement fees and $1 million in legal fees for sexual-harassment lawsuit against Paul Eckerd who was the city manager at the time. The complaint is 80 pages and details years of inappropriate behavior including emails that were submitted as evidence in the matter. Complaint (lawsuit) Included manipulation, vindictive behavior, retaliatory action, and Eckert being effective at covering up his misconduct.
Eckerd recently left the position of city manager in Gridley California ( population 6600)). The city Council states it was unaware of his past in Sioux City Iowa. Obviously, Mr. Eckerd was not forthcoming about the lawsuit before being hired in Gridley California.
Hollister is a small community and it is not prudent to open ourselves up to potential risk of this nature. A similar lawsuit would be crippling to our community. The City of Hollister needs to hold people to a higher standard than what Mr. Eckert has lacked to demonstrate.
We urge Hollister City Council to vote NO the appointment of Paul Eckerd.
