We bought a Holden Captiva 7 LX AWD in June, 2013. We have had nothing but problems with it since it was 4 weeks old. It is a lemon. We have been fighting for our money back. Pursuant to Australian Consumer Law, the ACCC and Fair Trading have advised that we are entitled to a full refund. Despite many requests for a refund, our requests have been denied by Holden Australia. Had we known of the characteristics of the vehicle we would never have purchased it in the first place.
We have been advised by both Holden Australia Customer Service and the dealership that the vehicle is not suitable to the type of driving we do.
The whole purpose of purchasing this vehicle was to make it easier for my husband to travel in a motor vehicle and also to drive. He has had a serious back injury with permanent nerve damage and has limited ability to sit, stand, walk and drive etc.
It has to be constantly returned to the dealership for repairs.
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) keeps malfunctioning and has been for 27 months, requiring the vehicle to be regularly returned to the dealership and they can never find the fault. This fault causes excessive fuel consumption.
The car loses acceleration. Driving down the highway, you press your foot on the accelerator to speed up and the engine dies. There is no response. You lose all power. After several seconds there is a bang and the engine re-ignites. We have nearly been in several accidents because of this. This has also happened going around busy roundabouts, taking off from lights etc. It is dangerous and makes us scared to drive the car.
The car's computer does not accurately record the faults that are occurring.
The Infotainment System does not work properly and keeps malfunctioning.
The driver's seat has a "manufacturer's fault" and keeps breaking. It has been repaired twice and replaced 3 times and now needs replacement again as it is broken.
We have problems with the brakes on the vehicle as well.
It has had the intercooler turbo replaced. The timing belt cover has been replaced as we had an oil leak. We now have another oil leak in the same spot. The car is only 28 months old and we have been having nothing but problems with it for the last 27 months.
We have a list 8 pages long of the problems with our vehicle.
