Hold Windcrest Kennel Owner Accountable for Illegal Animal Procedures

Hold Windcrest Kennel Owner Accountable for Illegal Animal Procedures
The Issue
A San Antonio-area animal boarding facility was shut down after disturbing allegations but no criminal charges have been filed, and the public still hasn’t been given answers.
Corey Jones, the owner of Texas Canine Boarding & Pet Services in Windcrest, was investigated for performing veterinary procedures like artificial insemination and ultrasound on dogs, even though he is not a licensed veterinarian. These actions violate Texas law and put animals at serious risk. Video evidence shows these procedures being offered at his facility for profit.
Even more troubling, Jones has been arrested twice in the last year on felony assault charges, one for allegedly choking a 14-year-old boy and another for allegedly assaulting his wife. Despite this, the City of Windcrest paid his business nearly $200,000 to house the city’s stray animals while he awaited indictment and after serious concerns had already been raised.
Animal Care Services revoked his business permit and filed a complaint with the state veterinary board. But they decided not to pursue animal cruelty charges. The public has been kept in the dark, and key records are being withheld.
If someone accused of harming people and animals can continue profiting from public funds and avoid legal accountability, what does that say to our community?
San Antonio and Windcrest residents deserve better. We deserve to know that our cities are protecting animals, enforcing state law, and keeping public contracts away from people who face violent criminal charges.
