Hold Wawanesa Accountable for Bad Faith

Hold Wawanesa Accountable for Bad Faith
The Issue
In 2021, my family lost our home to a devastating fire. After 15 years of loyal payments to Wawanesa, our claim (Policy #16122090) became a nightmare filled with errors, delays, and fabricated stories.
Wawanesa wrongly denied our claim for six months and continues to withholding cause-of-damages details for 1,241 days (since Jan 11, 2022). In May 2024, Wawanesa falsely claimed a crucial letter was sent. Over 282 days, I made 12 requests to obtain a copy of the letter, 8 to WIC’s Ombudsman or Privacy Office, only to learn in March 2025 that the letter never existed. Throughout this case, their Ombudsman and Privacy Office failed to address these issues. Wawanesa’s inaction cost us $1,061,300.87 and untold distress.
Their deceit doesn’t stop with us. Similar stories of Wawanesa’s handling are common from Kelowna to Sarnia. Communities and BBB complaints echo our pain. Regulators, including the Alberta Superintendent, OIPC (File 038819), and CIU (Assessment #50748), are investigating WIC’s bad faith. Do you want insurers to be honest with you? Sign now to demand Wawanesa’s transparency, fair compensation, and an investigation into their Ombudsman and Privacy Office! Share your story and stand with us! #InsuranceBadFaith
