My sister Marcie Anderson Sebree (Rest in 
Power) and nephews came to visit me in July 2022. My sister was in a joyful mood, because she got done "shopping" in my closet. I gave her some purses that I no longer needed to help downsize. However, that is not the point of the story.

Meanwhile, appearing to be amped up and higher than ever, my racist neighbor Kenny Branson, Connor Ridenbaugh, Heather Barnett (former tenant at my apartment complex), Heather's boyfriend Blake Kensell, and her brother Joseph Sharp were all in Kenny’s yard when my sister (Marcie Anderson Sebree) and nephews were about to leave.  Heather said loudly, “I’ve never seen so many black people.” She started making more racist slurs. Prior to that, Connor Ridenbaugh and Joseph Sharp was calling my family racial slurs, including the "n" word. My sister told her not to talk to her or her sons. Kenny proceeds to call the police for this particular reason as no incident even occurred. This resulted in one of my nephews getting handcuffed by Sgt. Kyle Tevault for not showing his ID right away. My nephew Tayegan was just leaning against his own vehicle, not engaging with Kenny and the others.

The Good ‘Ol Boys Club (Warrick County Sheriff's) never asked the others across the street for their ID nor were they even handcuffed. Let’s talk about discrimination! We know everyone from that group had priors. Sgt. Kyle Tevault took the handcuffs off my nephew after at least 15 minutes, and then he later gave us an hour of excuses – without apologizing to my nephew. Tevault refused to apologize to my nephew and said that he was just doing his job. It was very clear that Tevault knew that he was in the wrong. One of the officers refused to get involved since he didn’t seem to agree with my nephew getting handcuffed. Tevault gave me the outdated “sticks and stones” rhetoric when he was informed about all of the racial slurs that we were called. Words do hurt and can cause years of damage. Tevault told my mom that there was a time when there weren't any blacks in Warrick County, which isn't true since my mom was born and raised in Boonville, Indiana. You can read some of my family's history here. 

 I must note that my sister had dealt with a racist police officer for years as well, including intimidation, harassment, false arrest, and racial profiling. She clearly isn’t the only woman of color to go through this with this particular officer (not Tevault), because similar stories were told after he forcibly resigned from his post after a 5-day suspension from the police commission a few summers ago.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As for Kenny Branson of Newburgh, Indiana, he has been terrorizing, bullying, and stalking my family since June 2022. You can read the full story here.  That summer, Kenneth Branson had my sister falsely charged with battery. He claimed that she walked up to him and hit him with a shoe. Thankfully, the judge saw through Kenny's fabrications and dismissed the case.

 

Even though it took months, Heather, Blake, and Joseph were eventually arrested (for not appearing in court) for the cases related to Kenny. It is odd that Kenneth Branson never got charged since he was the perpetrator. Even the lieutenant said that the video Kenny showed the officers incriminated him. That's not all!

At first, we tried to ignore it, but the situation escalated to the point where Kenny Branson began to stand outside my daughter’s bedroom window at 4 AM. We could clearly see him, but we couldn’t call 911 right away since he was using a cell phone jammer. It wasn’t before long that he started making threats of violence against me and my daughter (my daughter was 10 years old at the time).

November 5th, 2022: Kenny was playing with a weapon in the broad of daylight and pacing back and forth as if he were on something. He didn’t realize that an employee for Rent One (he was delivering furniture for a neighbor) was standing in the back of the delivery truck as he was doing all of this. In the evening, Kenny attempted to throw a watermelon at my car and missed. This was caught on at least two security cameras. He left a huge splatter on the road instead. The next day, he came outside to take out the trash and “check” his mail (on a Sunday), and then walked back to his driveway and made motions as if he was going to throw something (twice) towards my way and motioned to suck it. He has done the latter on several occasions, which is considered sexual harassment. Later on, I was called racial slurs. On Thanksgiving, he made a false report to Child Protective Services by saying I was abusing my kids, didn’t have any food in the house, and I was outside in the cold, in a bathing suit, and making TikTok dance videos. CPS could see through his lies and didn’t take his report seriously. This wouldn’t be the first he called CPS and made an outrageous report. It wasn’t long before he started to unravel further into complete lunacy. In spring 2023, he made false reports about me having a dog that was attacking everyone in the neighborhood. I had proof that discredited this. Despite it being illegal to make false reports, he wasn't charged for these situations either. This eventually led to another watermelon-related incident in July 2023 where he created harassment signs and placed a watermelon next to them - an outdated racist trope. Neighborhood kids took it the next day of spite (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtqXlAA0BY8) and he was very peeved when he came home. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In early 2023, we immediately contacted the police after Kenny threatened to bash my daughter and her friend's heads in, hoping that they would take our concerns seriously and intervene to protect our family from this mentally disturbed individual. However, we were met with disappointment when the police declared that the neighbor’s threats were simply an exercise of his freedom of speech. To add insult to injury, one officer, Deputy Mike Backer, got upset when my husband confronted the neighbor about his behavior.

Here are a few incidents where he is harassing my daughter and her friend via security camera:

Kenzie calls her chicken butt and Kenny says in a weird voice, “you think you’re cool”, which is the same thing he said when he told my daughter and her friend that he was going to bash their head in. (February 20th, 2023)

With Branson telling my daughter that he was going to bash her head in, it’s deeply concerning how Backer declared harassing my daughter as freedom of speech. Such behavior is not only threatening but also traumatizing for a young child. It is unacceptable that law enforcement officials do not recognize the gravity of such behavior and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the citizens they are meant to protect.

What is even more disturbing is the fact that when my husband confronted the neighbor, Mike Backer got upset. This behavior is contradictory to the role of law enforcement officials, who are meant to maintain law and order and ensure that citizens are safe. It is essential that they remain impartial and do not let personal feelings or biases influence their actions.

Moreover, the fact that Deputy Mike Backer, also known as Patrick Michael Backer, (source 14News) has had legal trouble raises questions about his credibility and suitability as a law enforcement officer. He was arrested for public intoxication, criminal trespassing, and disorderly conduct at Stoners Bar in Boonville, Indiana, yet somehow he’s still able to be part of the sheriff’s department. There's another officer, now detective, who punched a 14-year-old boy in the private area and got away with it. Then there's the officer, Jarred Stuckey, who got arrested for multiple reports of sexual assault and he's still a sheriff. One can't help but wonder what is the main sheriff (Mike Wilder) doing behind the scenes.

These situations highlight the prevalence of white privilege, where certain individuals are allowed to get away with misconduct or illegal behavior simply because of their race or social status. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kenneth Branson (Newburgh, Indiana) has done everything within his power to terrorize my family. He has done everything from calling me racial slurs and derogatory names to stalking and using any device (i.e. Alexa speaker, security camera, cell phone, etc) as a form of harassment. He has also used VoIP numbers to harass me via phone. He assaulted my husband with a leaf blower as well as a gel bead gun without being charged. The only thing he charged for was throwing smoke bombs at my husband on 9/11 in 2023, and I have plenty of security camera footage of his, including where he tried to clean up evidence.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Above is a video of Kenny listening to a wildly inappropriate song and dancing to it in front of his daughter. In a few videos,  Kenneth Branson can be seen checking out my pre-teen daughter and her friend. In the above video, his daughter is seemingly embarrassed by him. His behavior is deeply disturbing on many levels!

You name it, he has most likely done it when it comes to harassment, including aggravated stalking, trying to damage our vehicle as well as other neighbors, calling my husband’s work, making false reports, and attempting to harm my family physically. I could write a novel! He is obsessed with us, and therefore, I have no qualms about sharing some of the things he has done. It is alleged that he is a CI (confidential informant), which is one reason why he gets away with many things.
