The Issue

Community members in the Village of Allegany have raised ongoing concerns about how residents—especially those facing mental health challenges—are treated by local leadership and institutions.

Many residents feel dismissed, unheard, or unsafe when interacting with officials. There is a growing need for more respectful communication, accountability, and compassion in how sensitive situations are handled.

No one in our community should feel ignored or disrespected during moments of vulnerability

We are calling on the Village of Allegany to:

Establish clear expectations for respectful and professional conduct by all officials
Strengthen protections for privacy and confidentiality
Require mental health awareness and de-escalation training for staff and law enforcement
Create a transparent and fair process for addressing citizen concerns
Commit to rebuilding trust between the village and its residents
This is about dignity, safety, and ensuring every resident feels heard and respected.

This petition is not about conflict—it is about meaningful change.

Together, we are asking the Village of Allegany to do better.
