Why This Matters
Democracy cannot survive without truth. Yet today, Americans are bombarded with misinformation, half-truths, and stories that are designed to manipulate rather than inform. News agencies can call themselves “press” without meeting any professional standard, and when they mislead the public, there are no consequences.

We demand a United Press Bar Association — an independent, self-regulating institution where journalists hold themselves accountable, much like the legal bar does for attorneys. This is not censorship. This is professionalization. It is honesty. It is integrity.

What We Want
Accreditation: Reporters, editors, and producers take an oath of truth, pass an ethics examination, and receive public accreditation.
Accountability: Errors must be corrected. Fabrications face real penalties, including suspension or loss of accreditation.
Public Registry: The people have a right to know which outlets meet the standard of honest journalism.
Restoration of Trust: By joining the Press Bar, honest journalists will prove they stand apart from those who abuse the title of “press.”

Why We Must Act
If the press cannot be trusted, democracy itself collapses. We cannot let bad actors drag down the entire profession. The American people deserve a press that is free, fair, and accountable to the truth.
