The Issue

We, the residents of Bethpage and the surrounding community, respectfully urge that all hearings and proceedings in the matter of the proposed MOLI expansion at Stewart and Central Avenues be held at the Central Islip courthouse of the Eastern District of New York, rather than Brooklyn.

This case directly impacts the safety, traffic, infrastructure, and daily lives of families in Bethpage and Nassau County.  Nearly all witnesses, residents, and experts who may participate are located here.  Requiring travel to Brooklyn would create unnecessary hardship, increased costs, and scheduling burdens for community members who wish to attend or participate.

Central Islip is part of the same federal district, is geographically closer, and is far more accessible for the community most affected by this matter.  Holding proceedings in Central Islip would serve the convenience of parties and witnesses, uphold the interest of justice, and ensure that the community has a fair opportunity to follow and engage with the case.

For these reasons, we respectfully request that the Town of Oyster Bay’s legal team seek to have this case heard in Central Islip.
