Dear supporters,

I’m writing to share a significant and encouraging update.

Following the concerns raised through this petition, the Market Theatre Foundation has formally acknowledged the deeper systemic issues of representation and equity in our theatre spaces. In their most recent communication to me, they committed to initiating a public industry dialogue around artistic leadership, inclusion, and accountability—and have invited my input in shaping that process.

This is a victory. Not just for me, but for every person who added their name, shared the petition, or raised their voice in solidarity.

It shows what is possible when we challenge entrenched patterns with clarity, care, and conviction.

With this step forward, I will be closing the petition. But the work is not over. This is the beginning of an ongoing conversation—one that I hope will lead to structural change in how stories are told, and who gets to tell them.

Thank you for standing with me.

In strength and solidarity,

Pamela Nomvete
