Every day, healthcare workers show up for us—saving lives, easing suffering, and holding our hands through the darkest moments. Yet too often, we fail to hold them in return.
Each year, hundreds of doctors, nurses, EMS workers, and healthcare professionals die by suicide. Registered nurses are at a 32% higher risk than the general public. Many suffered in silence, pushed to their limits by relentless schedules, traumatic loss, stigma, and a healthcare system that overlooks their mental health needs.

We, the undersigned, call on Congress and federal leadership to establish a National Day of Remembrance for Healthcare Workers Lost to Suicide. This day will:

Honor those who have died
Break the stigma around mental health in medicine
Promote nationwide efforts in suicide prevention and wellness for healthcare workers
Let us remember their names, uplift their stories, and commit to building a future where saving lives doesn’t mean sacrificing your own.
