Hold the government accountable for family court violations
The Issue
For the past two years, I have been engaged in an ongoing battle with Child Protective Services (CPS) and the family court system. During this time, I have repeatedly found myself in situations where my constitutional rights as a parent have been ignored and violated. This struggle is not mine alone; many parents across the United States are facing similar challenges, where the family court system seems to disregard their rights and work against their roles in their children's lives.
The US Constitution grants parents the right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children, yet these rights are being overlooked far too frequently in family court decisions. Judges, social workers, and the CPS system should be upholding these foundational rights, not undermining them. Every day, families are torn apart without proper justification, and parents are left without recourse, often unable to effectively defend their role and their place in their children's lives.
Statistics show a worrying trend: in 2019 alone, over 672,000 children were removed from their homes in the U.S., according to the Children's Bureau. While it's crucial to protect children from harm, it's equally important to ensure that the constitutional rights of parents are respected and upheld during these proceedings. Many of these removals were done under questionable circumstances where the constitutional due process was not properly followed.
To address this critical issue, we propose a nationwide reform of the family court systems to ensure they are held accountable. This reform should include:
1. Mandatory constitutional rights training for family court judges and CPS workers to ensure they are fully aware and respectful of parental rights.
2. Independent oversight committees to review family court decisions and CPS removals to ensure they are conducted fairly and legally.
3. A secure and accessible platform for parents to report violations of their rights, ensuring a swift and fair review process.
The implementation of these measures would not only protect parental rights but also restore trust in the family court system.
I urge you to join me in advocating for these reforms. Together, we can push for fair treatment in family courts and uphold the constitutional rights that are supposed to protect all parents. Please sign this petition to demand accountability and justice in the family court system.
